--About Mitsuo Aida--

Caligrapher and Poet

in 1924 , Mitsuo Aida was born in Ashikaga, Tochigi prefecture.

He was attracted to brush-and-ink calligraphy and tanka poetry in his pre-World War II system middle-school days.

Later, he established his original style based on My Words My Writing producing a great number of artworks.

in 1984, his works became widely renowned after his book Ningen Damono(Because I'm human ) was published.

in 1991, he passed away at the age of 67.

in 1996, the Mitsuo Aida Museum was opened in the Ginza area of Tokyo.

in 2003, it has moved to new location, Tokyo International Forum.
